Unless the Lord sells the house...

"Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city the guards stand watch in vain." Psalm 127: 1

I have worked all summer cleaning, painting, repairing, ripping out weeds, replacing screens, etc. in order to get our house ready to sell. I wanted it to be picture perfect before we listed it. My very long to-do list had dwindled down to just a handful of things left to do. Then I broke my left ankle and sprained my right one in a fall off of my daughter's dorm room loft bed. (Why was I up there? Because it was there!) At first I thought they were "just sprained" and that I would be back on my feet in no time. I hobbled around for a week before breaking down and going to urgent care. Three weeks later my list remained untouched. I finally swallowed my pride and invited my realtor over to get the ball rolling. I felt so ashamed by all the things that I felt still needed to be done. Then I was reminded that it is Lord who works out his will. When the house sells it won't be because of all of my hard work and clever choices. It will be because God has worked out every last detail. He has called us to Guatemala and he will be faithful to provide for our every need to accomplish what he desires. He provided this house after the tornado not just to bless us at that time but to continue to bless us for just such a time as this.

"We know that God works all things together for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28
